Lady Dogs hang onto third place

Tuesday February 8, 2005

It wasn’t easy, but the Lady Dogs exacted some revenge against Kentucky on Sunday behind a career-high 32 points from Tasha Humphrey and remained in third place in the SEC standings. Alexis Kendrick moved into eighth place on Georgia’s career assists list during the Kentucky win.

At this point in the season with LSU and Tennessee undefeated in league play, it would be difficult for Georgia to move into second or first place. Georgia has four SEC games remaining:

  • vs. South Carolina
  • at Ole Miss
  • at Florida
  • vs. Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt and Ole Miss are right behind Georgia in the SEC standings. Florida took Tennessee to overtime last week and can play with most anyone in the league, especially in Gainesville. The Lady Dogs control their destiny for third place and an opening day bye at the SEC Tournament, but some difficult and important matchups remain on the schedule.
