Tasha Humphrey has knee surgery

Wednesday April 19, 2006

Tasha Humphrey had an arthroscopic procedure on her right knee to clean up some sources of pain that she played through during the season. She will be in a cast for around six weeks and should be fine for the upcoming season.

Frett to remain a Georgia assistant

Saturday April 8, 2006

Georgia got some great news as assistant La’Keshia Frett announced she will retire from her WNBA career with the New York Liberty to remain an assistant coach on Coach Landers’ staff.

“It was definitely a tough decision for me,” Frett said. “I’ve played basketball for so long, and it’s been my career for the last eight years. It’s hard to walk away from the game, especially when there’s nothing forcing you to stop playing. I just felt that the opportunity to come back to Georgia was greater than playing. I’m very thankful for this opportunityand wanted to take advantage of it. I enjoyed coaching and being here more than I ever dreamed I would when I started last fall.”

Frett was the National Player of the Year as a high school senior, had a standout four-year career at Georgia that included two trips to the Final Four and two SEC titles, and now she begins a promising coaching career in Athens.
