Gball Online Magazine Top Ten: Georgia 10th

Monday October 22, 2007

Gball Online Magazine, a website published "for girls who play basketball," has Georgia ranked tenth in their preseason NCAA top ten. Here’s what they had to say about the Lady Bulldogs:

No. 10 Georgia (27-7, 11-3 SEC) won two games in the NCAA tournament before losing to Purdue 78-65 in the Sweet Sixteen. The Lady Dawgs return an outstanding player in 6-3 senior forward Tasha Humphrey (16.1 ppg.), 6-5 sophomore center Angel Robinson (8.0 ppg.) and 6-1 sophomore forward Christy Marshall (7.8 ppg.). Sophomore guard Ashley Houts (9.4 ppg.) balances out the offense from behind the 3-pt. arc. Georgia has to be good to compete in the tough SEC, and annually ranks near the top.

IMPORTANT CORRECTION - PLEASE READ

Monday October 22, 2007

We reported here Friday that former Lady Bulldog Teresa Edwards had been named as head coach for the new WNBA expansion franchise in Atlanta. The reports that story was based on have turned out to be erroneous. The new Atlanta franchise has, in fact, still not yet named a head coach. Please accept my apologies in getting this "story" out without proper verification. In attempting to get an exciting story out to our membership as quickly as possible, I got sloppy and neglected to do my due diligence. It won’t happen again.

Fastbreaking Flick Pick: "The Heart Of The Game"

Sunday October 21, 2007

Fastbreaker Dr. Evan Greller highly recommends "The Heart Of The Game," a critically acclaimed film documenting six seasons of Roosevelt Roughriders (Seattle, WA) girl’s high school basketball.

"Extraordinary. Combines nonstop action with an absorbing story to become a classic on par with ‘Hoosiers’ and ‘Hoop Dreams.’ It has unexpected depth and urgency." (Critic’s Pick) Ann Hornaday, Washington Post

Here’s a link to the film’s official website.

Netflix customers can use this link to find out more.

Or you can click here to order it from Amazon.

Here’s the official trailer for "The Heart Of The Game."

Thanks for the heads-up, Dr. Greller!
