Looking Ahead To Vanderbilt
Vandy’s gone 2-1 since Georgia last hooked up with them a couple of weeks ago. They’ve posted wins at Ole Miss and Florida while losing to Tennessee in Knoxville. The Lady Bulldogs are 2-2 in that same span…wins over Alabama and Florida, losses to Oklahoma and Kentucky. Right now, it looks like Tennessee and LSU (both 6-0 in league play) are going to finish 1-2 in some order atop the SEC. But the third and fourth place slots, and the invaluable first-round byes in the SEC Tournament that come along with them, are still up for grabs.
Kentucky holds down third place with a 5-2 conference record, but they’ve still got to run the gauntlet of Tennessee, Vandy, and LSU…with all of those games on the road, no less. Vandy’s in fourth with a 4-2 record…one game ahead of Georgia with a head-to-head matchup tomorrow. Given the unpredictable nature of SEC play, the Lady Bulldogs need to take advantage of this opportunity to control their own destiny for one afternoon.
This recent rough stretch notwithstanding, the pieces are in place for Georgia to put together a late-season run and carry some momentum into March. It can all start tomorrow with a packed house at Stegeman getting behind them. The game starts at 2:30 and the first thousand kids get Lady Bulldog lunch boxes. See y’all there.
