ATLANTA DREAM TO OFFER SPECIAL OPENING NIGHT "BULLDOG DISCOUNT"
The Atlanta Dream is offering a special discount to University of Georgia students, alumni, personnel and fans for the team’s home opener against the Detroit Shock on Friday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m. at Philips Arena. The game will be a homecoming for three members of the Shock. Forward Kara Braxton, forward Tasha Humphrey, and guard Deanna Nolan (pictured, L-R) all played for the Lady Bulldogs under Coach Andy Landers.
In order to receive this special Bulldogs discount, fans must purchase a ticket to the May 23 game through Ticketmaster (http://www.ticketmaster.com/promo/f9wnl5) and enter UGAOFF as the special promotional code. Fans that purchase their ticket entering this code will be eligible for a special post-game autograph session with Braxton, Humphrey, and Nolan. Fans interested in attending the autograph session must contact account executive Jonathan Merritt at the Atlanta Dream ticket table BEFORE THE END OF HALFTIME in order to obtain an autograph session voucher. The Dream ticket table is located on the main concourse outside of Portal 10. One voucher will be provided for each ticket purchased. The autograph session will be capped at 250 attendees.
Braxton, a 6-6 forward, averaged 15.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.93 blocks, and 1.53 steals per game during her career at Georgia. She is entering her fourth season in the league. Humphrey, a 6-3 forward, is entering her rookie season in the league, fresh off a standout career at Georgia. In her collegiate career, Humphrey averaged 18 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. Humphrey was a three-time All-American and three-time All-SEC first team member in her four years at Georgia. Nolan is entering her eighth season in the league, where she has emerged as one of the top players. For her WNBA career, Nolan is averaging 12.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. She was an integral part of the Detroit Shock championship teams in 2003 and 2006.
The Dream will tip-off its first regular season home game on Friday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m. against defending Eastern Conference Champions the Detroit Shock. The team was officially announced as the 14th team in the WNBA on October 17, 2007. The Dream will be a member of the WNBA’s Eastern conference and play their home games at Philips Arena. Other Eastern conference teams include the Chicago Sky, Connecticut Sun, Detroit Shock, Indiana Fever, New York Liberty and Washington Mystics.
