The Clemson Game

Monday December 22, 2008

Georgia – 67, Clemson – 50. You just had a feeling when Angela drained that three at the halftime buzzer….then having Porsha and Christy score the first four points of the second half, tying the game after each had a poor shooting first half…like I said, you just had a feeling that business was about to pick up. Pick up it did as the Lady Bulldogs rattled off a 14-2 run in the opening minutes of the second half (on the way to outscoring Clemson by 21 in the half) and never really looked back the rest of the way.

Georgia was led by a quartet of scorers in double-figures (15 for Porsha, 13 for Christy, 12 for Angela, and 11 for Ashley) and they also prevailed on the boards, out-rebounding Clemson by a half-dozen. The Lady Bulldogs improved to 9-2 on the season and they upped their impressive Gwinnett Arena record to 5-1. Now it’s long layoff time once more as Georgia won’t take to the floor again until December 30 versus Xavier at Stegeman Coliseum.

Your humble Fastbreak Club blogger’s seats for this game at The Arena were more than 20 rows farther back than his usual swanky courtside digs at Stegeman. So, for this posting anyway, enjoy the view from up in the cheap seats:

  • Comment regarding the seating assignments for the Arena at Gwinnett. Our seats were in Sect 118 directly across the arena from where most members of the Fastbreak Club were sitting. I’m not sure who assigns the seats for the season ticket holders, but we were the only members I recognized sitting on the opposite side of the arena. I recognized many members sitting right behind the team close to the court across the court from us. Our seats were about 7 rows from the top. Talk about the cheap seats. It would be nice if all members could have seats together.

  • Hey, Deb! Yeah, the seating assignments were…interesting. We didn’t have any Fastbreak Club people sitting within ten rows of us. I’m wondering if a bunch of Fastbreakers didn’t just move down behind the bench and abandon their assigned seats. If they did, I don’t blame them. We ran into friends up top, so we didn’t move. But there didn’t seem to be a recognizable “bloc” of Fastbreakers that were seated together. You guys have a Merry Christmas!
