The Auburn Game
Auburn – 65, Georgia – 59. The way this season has turned out thus far for the Lady Bulldogs, you can forgive them if they’re not in the mood for “Nice job” or “Way to hang with ‘em” after giving the third-ranked team in the country everything it could handle this afternoon. But with the losing streak extending to five games, you have to wonder if the mythical NCAA Tournament “bubble” has any air left in it as far as Georgia’s fate is concerned. Running the table in the last two games would leave the Lady Dawgs with a 17-12 overall record and a .500 winning percentage in conference play. From there, you have the opportunity to go to the SEC Tournament and make a little noise. This is obviously “glass is half-full” speculation…but you have to keep your eyes on the prize. No matter how out of reach it may appear. The good news coming out of today’s loss to Auburn is that the Lady Bulldogs looked like they’re not ready to concede anything. And if they aren’t giving up, then the Lady Bulldog Nation shouldn’t give up either.
Angel led the Lady Dawgs with 17 points en route to yet another double-double (with 14 rebounds). Porsha also finished with double figures in scoring with 13 points. Now it’s on to Lexington for the Lady Bulldogs as they will take on Kentucky next Thursday night in their final regular-season road game. We’ll have a Georgia/Kentucky preview and game links posted here sometime on Wednesday. Keep the faith, Fastbreakers…
