ATTENTION: Lady Bulldog Fans With DirecTV

directv As you all may or may not know, tomorrow’s Georgia/Arizona State game will be part of ESPN2’s so-called “whip around” coverage of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. That means the broadcast of the Georgia/Arizona State game may be frequently interrupted as ESPN2 “whips around” to other tournament games being played at the same time.

However, if you’re a DirecTV subscriber, there will be a special channel dedicated to whistle-to-buzzer coverage of only the Georgia/Arizona State game. DirecTV subscribers should tune into Channel 216 at noon to watch the Lady Bulldogs game from beginning to end, free of interruptions.

If you live in Georgia, the game will be on ESPN2 and “home market protected”, so no whiparound coverage. However, if you have HDTV, the game will be on your Std Def ESPN2 station. So, if like me, you’re setting your DVR while at the game, be sure to record off your SDTV ESPN2 channel and not your HDTV ESPN channel. Here’s the link to ESPN’s coverage info: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncw/ncaatourney09/news/story?page=maps0321

    Go Lady Dawgs!

  • I wonder if the home market protection varies from cable system to cable system and is possibly subject to whether or not local system programmers are asleep at the switch or not. I know last year there were complaints from Comcast customers out in Gwinnett County that they did indeed whip around during Georgia’s games.

My advice? If you really and truly want nothing but Lady Bulldog basketball from beginning to end, come on out to the game! We’ll make room for all of y’all! :)
