Game One: #11 GEORGIA vs. #6 Arizona State. Arizona State takes to the court this weekend against Georgia having lost their last two games (a loss to Stanford in their regular season finale and going one-and-done at the Pac-10 Tournament, courtesy of USC). Georgia is coming off a tough 8-point loss in the SEC Tournament to Vanderbilt. Vandy, of course, then went on to win the tournament. A look at common opponents shows that State whipped Xavier (to whom Georgia lost at home) and they lost to Florida (a team with which the Lady Bulldogs split a pair of games this season). The home court advantage should certainly work in Georgia’s favor as they are the host team and…oh by the way…they’ve lost only once in six games in The Arena at Gwinnett Center. Obviously, this has been an up-and-down season in terms of wins and losses. Lady Bulldog fans aren’t very accustomed to double-digit loss seasons. However, the quotes from Andy and the team in the press and online indicate that this is a Georgia team that well knows how fortunate they are to have an opportunity to redeem themselves in the “second season,” the NCAA Tournament. Everybody’s equal now…no wins and no losses. Bottom line: Our Lady Bulldogs will come out with something to prove. They’re ready.

Game two: #3 Florida State vs. #14 North Carolina A&T. We all know what the deal is here. Georgia’s been a three-seed many times…we’ve certainly seen our share of #3-vs.-#14 games. So you know pretty much what to expect. Obviously, anything can happen out there between the baskets and that’s why you go to the trouble of…you know…actually playing the games. But I’ll be very surprised if the outcome of this one is still in dispute, say, ten minutes into the game. However competitive (or not) this game turns out to be, here’s hoping that we’re all watching it in the joyful afterglow of a big Lady Bulldog victory.
