Angela Puleo To Transfer From Georgia

Wednesday April 8, 2009

This just in from the UGA Sports Communications Office:

angela ATHENS, GA. — Angela Puleo (pictured), who recently completed her sophomore season with the Georgia Lady Bulldogs, has decided to transfer to complete her basketball eligibility, head coach Andy Landers announced on Tuesday.

“We appreciate all of Angela’s contributions over the past two years and wish her well,” Landers said.

Puleo, a 5-9 guard from Maryville, TN., started 32 of 33 games played as a freshman in 2007-08, averaging 8.2 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. This season, she started 28 of 31 games and averaged 7.4 points and 2.4 boards per game.

“The University of Georgia has provided me with an excellent education during my two years in Athens,” Puleo said. “I just feel at this time it would be in my best interest to look for another school.”

Fastbreak Club blogger’s note: Angela has contributed photos and written material to this website…and when we were doing the Club newsletter, you knew an e-mail to Angela Puleo would be answered almost instantly. Angela was a joy to cover here and this site wishes her nothing but the best down the road.

As Gomer Pyle Would Say…

Wednesday April 8, 2009

gomer-surprise “Surprise, surprise, SURPRISE!” Yes, indeed. Connecticut closed out the deal in convincing fashion last night…and the 39-0 Huskies are your 2008-09 NCAA Women’s Basketball National Champions. And while that’s what Gomer would say, we here at the Fastbreak Club blog would add, “Congratulations to Coach Auriemma and his players on a season for the ages.” And we’d also throw in some love for Coach Walz and his Louisville squad for knocking off two number-one seeds on the way to the national title game.

Only six months or so until we crank it all up again.
