ESPN/USA Today Coaches Pre-Season Poll

Monday November 9, 2009

espnusatoday Well, the nation’s coaches have spoken…and, as of right now, they don’t regard the Lady Bulldogs as highly as the media. While Georgia was ranked 21st in the nation by the sportswriters in the AP’s pre-season poll, the coaches who are polled as part of the ESPN/USA Today rankings didn’t see fit to include the Lady Dawgs among their Top 25. This represents somewhat of a reversal of fortune as Georgia in the past has traditionally been ranked higher by the coaches than by their counterparts in the media. Technically, you could say that the Lady Bulldogs are ranked 30th, since they are currently shown in fifth place among the “Others Receiving Votes.” A season-opening win over Oklahoma would most likely propel Georgia into the Top 25…but, for now, the nation’s coaches are apparently in “Show me” mode. Here’s the ESPN/USA Today top five:

1. Connecticut

2. Stanford

3. Ohio State

4. Baylor

5. North Carolina

(Unranked) – GEORGIA
