The Fastbreak Club: The official booster club of Lady Dog basketball

TOMORROW EVENING: Georgia vs. Auburn

Saturday January 30, 2010

Fastbreakers who are accustomed to taking the Fastbreak Express bus trip to Auburn and practically having the arena to themselves might be in for a bit of a shock tomorrow. There may be actual Auburn fans in attendance. Yes, the Lady Bulldogs are once again somebody’s “Pack The House” opponent. In all seriousness, Coach Nell Fortner has done a great job getting that Auburn program back on track and they deserve big crowds…especially for a nationally televised game. But the gauntlet has been thrown down for all you Fastbreakers who will be in attendance on The Plains tomorrow. It is your sacred duty to hoot, holler, carry on, and just basically do whatever it takes to give our Lady Dawgs a little boost that might put some extra spring in their step. If you’ve been on one of these Fastbreak Club bus trips before, you know that Andy and the team absolutely take note of the Club’s presence and they appreciate the above-and-beyond support of everyone who sets aside a whole day to cheer them on.

Obviously, this is a big game. Auburn may only be 11-10 this season (and a shocking 2-6 in SEC play), but this is a team that has knocked off LSU in Baton Rouge and they always lace their sneakers up extra tight when Georgia comes to down. The Tigers own an 8-7 edge over the Lady Bulldogs in Eaves-Beard Coliseum, including winning three of the last four border war showdowns. We all know what’s going on with the Lady Dawgs…after a record-breaking 16-0 start, Georgia has lost three of their last five games. They’re coming off back-to-back losses to Ole Miss and Mississippi State. January is about to give way to February. That means it’s home stretch time. It’s time to start thinking about SEC title hopes, first-round SEC Tournament byes, and earning a favorable seed in The Big Dance. It’s time to start winning again.

Georgia and Auburn go at it at 6:00 PM (Eastern) tomorrow evening at Beard-Eaves Coliseum…located on-campus at Auburn. If you’re not taking the Fastbreak Express bus to the game or road-tripping it yourself, the game can be seen live on ESPNU (check your local cable/satellite guide for channel number). No TV? No problem. You can also listen to all the action on your local Georgia Bulldog Radio Network affiliate station. We’ll have a game recap and web links posted right here sometime before bedtime tomorrow night.

A REQUEST: If you’re part of the Fastbreak Express bus trip tomorrow, we’d love to post some of your pictures here. Game pictures are, of course, always welcome…but it would be great to have a visual record here of the whole bus trip experience: Boarding the bus, pictures from the road, at the restaurant…that kind of stuff. We’ve got a lot of great-looking Fastbreakers, so let’s see your faces! If you’d like your Auburn bus trip photos posted here, just send them to m.holcomb@charter.net (in .JPEG/.JPG format, please).

Have a great trip and bring home a big “W”!
